There are certain undeniable facts of life: global warming is happening, social media and alcohol don’t mix, and three makes a trend. As the Spring 2020 collections unfold at New York Fashion Week, we’re rounding up all the trends to hit the runways in threes. From lime green to the return of peplum, check back as we round up fashion’s emerging trends for spring. LIME IS FINE Spring is always about a cool color story. This season seems to be all about a bold citrus that’s often underserved in the color-scape: lime. Spotted on the runways of Jonathan Simkhai, Tibi, and Rosetta Getty, it’s a refreshing shade that feels just right for those margarita-infused days. Pretty Peplums The peplum is back, babes. But it’s not one size fits all. For the Khaite girl it’s a little minimal and very cool in black layered taffeta. Ulla Johnson put her peplum on a plaid bohemian infused plaid dress. And Christopher John Rogers went full ‘80s glam in white. Pick your pouf.Le White Suit The white suit has always reigned as a chic girl go-to. So if she’s going to add a new one to her closet, it better be something special. Designers are taking the classic two piece a step further, Mara Hoffman tied her jacket up for a sultry take, Tory Burch went for a dapper vibe with black contrast lapels, and Adeam brought the whole idea to nautical places.Nothing But Net | Evening-wear is going back to black, but don’t mistake it for boring. The look is what we’re calling “mermaid after dark” with a bit of netting in interesting spots. Gabriela Hearst went for an off the shoulder better vibe, Vera Wang made a re-appearance on the runway with netted skirting, and Cong Tri took an all-over sultry take on a plunging gown.
